ABOUT ABOUT

Many of us attend meetings and other activities with others.  We hope for (and often are fortunate) to have an attentive, enthusiastic, and strong facilitator to guide us through long or boring processes; maybe even difficult or exuberant conversations.  But what is that person up there actually doing that gets us to outcomes, feeling like we were heard?  How’d they get us to come up with all these new ideas? How do they know what to do?

Well, let’s debunk the mystery together.  Maybe you are new to facilitation, haven’t done it for a while, or are anxious to find a way to move into the role.  If so, join PACA for this interactive workshop on inclusive and participatory meeting facilitation for beginners. In the workshop, you’ll:

  • Learn what facilitation is and about the role of the facilitator
  • Explore tricks, tips and common pitfalls for facilitators
  • Identify and engage strategies for involving different people in activity and discussion
  • Practice listening skills that are at the foundation of good facilitation

IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR YOU?
This workshop will be for you if:

  • You want to use your curiosity and empathy to help guide groups through meetings
  • You want to learn how to better include people in meetings
  • You are willing to practice using new tools in a group setting to become a better facilitator

Workshops are geared to serve people belonging to or working within cooperatives and will be of benefit to anyone interested in cultivating democratic practices to use at work, within volunteer sites, etc.  Please RSVP in advance as sessions are capped at 20 and tend to fill quickly.

PACA is committed to providing accessible programs, events, and services. The space at CultureWorks is wheelchair accessible with a gender-neutral, accessible bathroom. Please contact us via the email link below regarding additional accommodations - and we’ll do our best to assist.

Attendees agree to possibly having their photograph taken and their likeness used in future promotional materials.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
PACA offers workshop for free and on a sliding scale basis. We recognize that this kind of learning experience is often cost prohibitive for individuals, particularly leaders of color, low-income/low-asset individuals, and those from grassroots and small organizations.

Please find a cost that works for you. If you can afford to pay at the high end of the scale, please do! If you want to attend but can't pay, please choose the free ticket option.

All proceeds benefit PACA.
